Songwriting

This workshop will focus on the mechanics of writing a pop song within a small group format of 8 to 12 participants.  Each of the components of songwriting will be examined separately including lyrics, form, progression, melody and production and instrumentation.  This will be an ideal learning experience for the vocalist/instrumentalist/band member who wants to take it to that next level where writing is not only a creative experience but a skill and a craft as well.

Acoustic & Electric Blues II.

Bill Johnson has been a gigging regular on the Victoria scene since he was seventeen. Raised on a healthy diet of Hank Williams, Elvis, and his brother's blues collection, Bill has been dubbed "Victoria's Blues Guitar Flame Thrower." Bill has opened for blues giants Otis Rush and Delbert McClinton. Instructing the Hornby Island Blues Workshop for the past five years, Bill teaches an entertaining and informative workshop.

Acoustic & Electric Blues is a group workshop aimed at acquainting players with the basics of acoustic and electric blues guitar. Our January workshop was a great success. Watch for the next one coming up.

Ukulele 1

Franaine Buchal has degrees from University of Western Ontario, York University and Lakehead University. He has taught kindergarten, Grades 6&7 in the public education system as well as private guitar and ukulele lessons for five years. Franaine has performed in various genres for the last 15 years. He is also an accomplished woodwinds player.

This workshop is suitable for beginners of all ages and is designed to be an introductory class focusing on chord formations, strumming patterns, melody lines and songs.

Fee $20 per person for one hour session
